Vintage Sari Silk Nuno Table Runner- Part 1 of 2

Using my sari silk as a pattern piece...

...I placed bits of scrap paper under the bubble wrap...

...to function as 'size markers'.


                                                Setting the silk aside for a moment...

                                             ...I laid out my pre-felt design...

                                                ...within the paper borders...



                                                    ...and wetted it out.



                                 Next, I carefully draped the silk over the pre-felt squares...

                                          ...so as not to disturb their placement.
 

                                 The silk was then covered with one layer of variegated roving...



                                                         ...in one direction...



                                ...followed by a second layer, perpendicular to the first.



                                             After wetting out the entire project...

                                      ...the wispy edges were carefully folded in...

                                                 ...to create a neat rectangle.
